Since the Braithaphone there has been no "new" saxophone type instrument until now:

“AULOCHROME”
The "François Louis" mechanism

The results are: reduced weight, reduced friction, increased response, and increased strength. It makes it possible for the repairman to operate on each key one by one without disassembling an entire rack of keys.
It also dramatically reduces time needed for repairs, allowing a perfect adjusment of the pads in a few seconds. The mechanism uses standardized elements that favor mass-production efficiency and is adaptable to all woodwind instruments.

About François Louis,
The Inventor
François LOUIS, musical instrument maker, was born in Brussels Belgium in 1954. Using the experience he had acquired in the field of fluid mechanics during his five years of motorbike competition mechanic; he modified the original mouthpiece of his saxophone. His teacher, Bernard Loncheval, as well as many Belgian professionals such as Pietro Lacirignola, and later Willy Vandewalle, Steve Houben and others, are interested in the properties of this “souped-up” mouthpiece and ask him to modify their own pieces.

Was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, playing tenor saxophone, flute and other woodwind instruments.
Mr. Kirk was perhaps best known for his vitality on stage, where virtuoso improvisation was accompanied by comic banter, political ranting and his famous ability to play a number of instruments simultaneously. Visit his website for the details of his breif career and listen to more of his music.

Carlos Garnett is a Panamanian-American jazz saxophonist.
He grew up in Panama, and started playing tenor saxophone in 1957. Early on, he performedcalypso and Latin music. In 1962, Garnett moved to New York, working with rock groups and struggling a bit, but listening closely to free jazz saxophonists. He gained some recognition for his work with Freddie Hubbard (1968-1969), Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers (1969-1970), andCharles Mingus, and had an important stint with Miles Davis in 1972. Garnett also worked withJack McDuff, Andrew Hill, Gary Bartz, and Norman Connors during the era and recorded five albums of his own for Muse during 1974-1977. Carlos Garnett was musically inactive during much of the 1980s, and largely seemed to disappear from jazz, but started a comeback in 1991. In 1996, he made one of his finest albums (Fuego en Mi Alma, for the HighNote label) in a style little changed since the '70s.

Steve Turre (born September 12, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an internationally renownedtrombonist, recording artist, arranger, and educator.
In 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2006 he won the Down Beat Reader's Poll for best trombonist. He is also noted for playing conch and other seashells as musical instruments, which he has done since 1970. Kirk encouraged his interest in using seashells as a lip-reed instrument. Turre has a collection of shells of various sizes, which he has picked up during his travels in theCaribbean and elsewhere. The shells have their mouthpieces carefully cut and are tuned to specific pitches. When playing them as a soloist he frequently switches between shells, as each is limited in its register (the smallest shells, for example, have a practical register of only a fifth).
His largest shell, from the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, has a range between the D and E below middle C, and was painted by a Cuban artist. Turre also leads "Sanctified Shells," which is a "shell choir" made up of brass players who double on seashell (using shells from Turre's collection, which he loans out for rehearsals and performances). The group released its first, eponymous album in 1993.
